Hey Gemini, your AI assistant from Google, has had an amazing first year in India. We love how people across the country use it to work with AI in so many different ways – for schoolwork, coding, creative exploration, and more. From students to developers to many curious minds, Indians are using Gemini to get more done in their daily lives.
Today we’re building on this momentum with new Gemini features that will enable even more people to get things done in their preferred language. We’re particularly excited about the Gemini app, which is big in India given the country’s mobile-first culture. The Gemini app and Gemini Advanced, which gives users access to Google’s most powerful AI models, will now be available in 9 Indian languages so more people can access information and get things done in their preferred language. We’re also introducing new features in Gemini Advanced like data analysis and file uploads and launching the ability to chat with Gemini in Google Messages, starting with English.
Gemini in India the Go: App Now Available in India
We’re happy to announce that the Gemini app is now available in India, in English and in 9 Indian languages – Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Whether you need to plan a game night, create a recipe with specific ingredients, or craft a social media caption, Gemini is on the go. You can type, talk, or even add an image to get the help you need. Take a picture of a flat tire for instructions on how to change it or get help writing that perfect thank you note – the possibilities are endless. This is a big step forward in our journey to build a conversational, multimodal, and helpful AI assistant.
Gemini in India
To get Gemini on Android, download the Gemini app or opt-in through Google Assistant. Then you can use Gemini by corner swiping, pressing the power button on select phones, or saying “Hey Google”. This will give you a new overlay experience with Gemini and contextual help right on your screen. Many voice features you loved in Google Assistant will be available in the Gemini app like setting timers, making calls, and setting reminders and we’ll add more in the future.
On iOS, Gemini will roll out directly from the Google app in the next few weeks. Just toggle Gemini and start chatting to get super creative and productive.
Gemini in India Advanced in Indian Languages, with new features
We’re bringing Gemini 1.5 Pro, our most powerful model, to Gemini Advanced in 9 Indian languages – Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
With the new and improved Gemini Advanced, we’ve taken things to a whole new level. This chatbot now has an impressive 1 million token context window, making it the chatbot with the longest context available to everyday users worldwide. What does that mean? Well, it can process and understand a massive amount of information, from super long documents (up to 1,500 pages!) and tons of emails to even hours of video and extensive codebases shortly

This expanded capacity comes with some awesome new features:
Document Uploads: Now you can upload multiple large documents, totaling up to 1,500 pages. You can also summarize a whopping 100 emails. And what does Gemini Advanced do with all that? It provides quick summaries, personalized feedback, and actionable insights, all to save you time and boost your productivity. So now, you can easily get answers and insights about those dense documents, like figuring out the nitty-gritty details of the pet policy in your rental agreement or comparing key arguments in multiple long research papers.
Data Analysis: If you’ve got some complex data analysis tasks on your plate, Gemini Advanced has got your back. You can now upload your spreadsheets (Google Sheets, CSVs, Excel) and let Gemini Advanced do the rest. It can clean, explore, analyze, and even visualize your data, turning it into interactive charts and graphs. So whether you’re trying to uncover spending patterns or calculate the average total sales for your small business, think of Gemini Advanced as your own personal data analyst, helping you discover insights and create custom visualizations on the go.
